Jesus said, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, NLT)
We believe that missions— that is, taking the gospel to people not like us— taking the gospel to the “ends of the earth”– is an essential activity for a New Testament church, in obedience to Christ’s Great Commission. So we support our denomination’s missions organizations financially (monthly, through giving a percentage of undesignated contributions to the Cooperative Program, and through special offerings), and prayerfully.
We also believe that “going” is an important element in obeying the Great Commission.
Our missions team, led by our Minister to Students, Frank Carter and his wife Mandi, are headed to Piatra Neamt, Romania, July 13th – 21st. Attending this year’s trip with Frank & Mandi are Matt Robinson, Parker Robinson, Bailey Lancaster, Mary Thompson Lancaster, Tripp Vickory, Stokes Jennings, Rob Lindell, Gage Hagan and Megan Smith. There they will host one-day Vacation Bible School in local villages as well as ministering the gospel through street evangelism.
This missions trip is being coordinated through the Romanian-American Mission, in cooperation with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. It is being funded by those who are going, and the very generous members of First Baptist Church, and others.
